Abstract

This article focuses on the Netflix film *Unfrosted*, directed by and starring comedian Jerry Seinfeld, which dramatizes the competitive race to create the toaster pastry Pop-Tarts. The movie, blending farce with historical rivalry, depicts the 1960s contest between Kellogg and Post, two major breakfast cereal companies founded in Battle Creek, Michigan, highlighting their efforts to develop a toaster-ready breakfast food. While fictionalized characters and humorous elements are prominent, the film draws on real events such as Kellogg's market success with Pop-Tarts in 1964 and the cultural context of the era. The project, more than a decade in the making, was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic and reflects Seinfeld's longtime interest in breakfast foods.
