Abstract
The article focuses on the critical role of collaborative public-private-philanthropic partnerships in addressing climate change financing challenges. Despite significant global capital, only a small fraction is currently invested in climate mitigation due to perceived risks and competing financial obligations. Initiatives like the World Economic Forum's GAEA (Giving to Amplify Earth Action) platform exemplify efforts to leverage philanthropic seed funding alongside private and public investments to catalyze technological innovation and scale climate solutions. Examples from marine science and organizations such as Breakthrough Energy illustrate how strategic philanthropy can de-risk investments and attract institutional capital. The article emphasizes that overcoming climate finance barriers requires practical, coordinated approaches that align the strengths of all sectors to mobilize the necessary resources for global climate action.
