Abstract
This note points out that Paus.3.14.3 preserves documentary evidence for seventh-century contests in foot-races at locations other than Olympia. The passage is thus a tiny piece of evidence for the Greek athletic culture in the early archaic period, which is otherwise poorly covered by the surviving evidence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
