Abstract

The article offers science news briefs covering ecology, immunology, and solar energy. It highlights research on mutualistic relationships between ants and plants, showing that physical separation within a single domatium can reduce conflict among multiple ant species interacting with the same plant. It also reports that macrophage-produced oncostatin M in mice protects lung tissue during influenza A infection by regulating alveolar epithelial cell function, and reducing immunopathology.
