Abstract
Brazil's development bank, BNDES, is considering providing loans to troubled airlines in an effort to alleviate financial pressures and soaring fares. The bank is exploring options to help the airlines secure sufficient collateral, including turning a public aviation fund into a guarantee fund for the loans. Leftist President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has instructed his cabinet to find solutions to lower prices and increase accessibility to air travel. The government is also launching a program called Voa Brasil, which will offer discounted tickets to students and retired workers. Rising jet fuel prices, production delays, and currency volatility have contributed to airlines' financial challenges. [Extracted from the article]
