Abstract

This article focuses on research showing that remote employees experience 32% higher anxiety about layoffs compared to their in-office counterparts, based on data from over 80,000 workers analyzed by Humu. The study highlights that remote workers' anxiety negatively impacts their productivity and is linked to reduced social interaction with leadership and colleagues. Despite this, half of employees prioritize remote work in their next role, indicating a strong preference for flexible arrangements. To address these challenges, the article recommends managerial strategies such as fostering inclusion through structured social interactions, cross-functional connections, intentional delegation, supportive one-on-one meetings, and transparent communication to reduce anxiety and improve engagement among remote and hybrid teams.
