Abstract
General Motors (GM) has been ordered by a federal appeals court to face a class action lawsuit alleging that it knowingly sold cars, trucks, and SUVs with faulty transmissions in violation of laws in 26 U.S. states. The vehicles in question, including Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC models sold between 2015 and 2019, are said to experience issues such as shuddering, shaking, hesitation, and lurching. GM had argued against class certification, claiming that most class members did not experience problems and that there were too many differences among them. However, the court ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, stating that overpaying for allegedly defective vehicles was sufficient to establish standing. The case will now be returned to a U.S. District Judge in Detroit for further proceedings. [Extracted from the article]
