Abstract
This article focuses on assessing employee perceptions of Total Quality Management (TQM) practices in Indian public sector manufacturing companies, emphasizing six critical success factors: leadership, continuous improvement, customer focus, process flow management, employee education and training, and supply chain integration. Using data from 265 employees across 10 companies in Kerala, analyzed through structural equation modeling, the study finds that employees are most satisfied with leadership, education and training, and customer focus, while expressing lower satisfaction with continuous improvement, process management, and supply chain integration. The findings highlight the importance of aligning TQM practices with employee perceptions to enhance involvement and organizational performance, offering managerial insights for improving quality initiatives in public sector enterprises. The study suggests further research across different states to capture broader variations in TQM implementation.
