Abstract

The article focuses on Philips' potential entry into the Quantum Dot OLED (QD-OLED) TV market in 2023, which would make it the third brand after Samsung and Sony to adopt this technology. QD-OLED, developed by Samsung, combines OLED's contrast with Quantum Dots' enhanced color vibrancy and brightness. Philips' parent company TP Vision is currently testing prototypes and evaluating the technology, with a final decision expected alongside the unveiling of Philips' 2023 TV lineup. Philips already has experience with QD-OLED in gaming monitors and aims to improve brightness in its upcoming OLED TVs, whether or not it uses Samsung's QD-OLED panels.
