Abstract
Professor Armand de Mestral, a renowned scholar and mentor at McGill Law faculty for over 40 years, has made significant contributions to international law and international trade law. He was highly respected for his academic brilliance and expertise in constitutional law matters and free trade. Professor de Mestral's work extended to serving as an arbitrator in organizations such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Center for Settling Investment Disputes (ICSID). He also played a leadership role in the Canadian Red Cross Society. His research focused on various areas, including European Union law, regional trade agreements, foreign investment, and civil rights.
