Abstract
The article focuses on Advocate Health, a nonprofit healthcare system formed by the merger of two major regional health systems, which operates 69 hospitals and 1,000 care sites serving 6 million patients. Advocate Health is leveraging its scale to drive innovation through strategic partnerships in three key areas: artificial intelligence (AI) tools like Microsoft's Dragon Ambient eXperience (DAX) Copilot to reduce clinician administrative burden; The Pearl, an innovation district in Charlotte, North Carolina, that fosters collaboration among academic institutions, medtech companies, and clinicians; and the National Center for Clinical Trials (NCCT), which streamlines access to clinical research across its network. The organization emphasizes a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and alignment of values, particularly focusing on serving vulnerable populations and accelerating healthcare transformation through ethical, inclusive innovation.
