Abstract

The article focuses on how companies can successfully implement generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) by reimagining entire core business processes, journeys, or functions end to end rather than applying AI in isolated use cases. It outlines a four-step approach: (1) selecting a business domain where AI can quickly deliver significant impact and where interconnected activities allow reuse of data and technology; (2) assembling cross-functional teams with clear leadership and removing organizational barriers; (3) redesigning business operations from the ground up using design thinking and iterative testing; and (4) adapting organizational structures and technology to support AI-driven processes. Case studies from an airline’s cargo operations and a telecom provider’s customer value management illustrate how this domain-focused strategy can generate substantial financial returns and build momentum for broader AI adoption within organizations.
