Abstract
This article discusses how data-driven decisions can help restaurants stay competitive in the face of changing customer expectations and increased competition. The authors provide six strategies for restaurants to leverage data and analytics, including using publicly available intelligence to determine new restaurant locations, selectively accepting reservations from certain customers, and managing customer queues more effectively. They also suggest using data to inform seating policies, creating dynamic and personalized menus, and efficiently balancing between multiple order channels. The article emphasizes the importance of data ownership and cautions restaurants to be mindful of the value of their data. Overall, the strategies outlined in the article are applicable not only to restaurants but also to the broader service industry. [Extracted from the article]
