Abstract

The article examines the impact of transferring the responsibility of shortlisting candidates from line managers to Human Resources (HR) on hiring practices, particularly regarding gender diversity. Research conducted at a multinational technology company, referred to as Alpha, revealed that this change led to a 9.2 percent increase in the hiring of women, attributed to HR's more objective evaluation methods compared to the subjective biases of line managers under time constraints. The findings suggest that allowing HR to handle initial candidate selection can create a more equitable hiring process while still enabling managers to make the final hiring decisions. The study highlights the potential for organizations to enhance diversity in their workforce through minor adjustments in hiring procedures. [Extracted from the article]
