Abstract

This article focuses on managing employee emotional responses during organizational disruptions through the Emotional Readiness Framework (ERF). It highlights that major changes such as downsizing, technology adoption, and reorganizations trigger complex emotions—confusion, fear, resistance—that traditional logic-based change management often overlooks. The ERF helps talent development (TD) leaders assess and address these emotional dynamics by fostering empathy, open communication, rumor control, and emotional regulation to prepare employees for learning and adaptation. By recognizing emotional readiness as critical to successful change, the framework guides leaders in supporting workforce resilience and engagement throughout the change process.
