Abstract
The article discusses the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), particularly in the eastern region. The M23 rebels, backed by Rwanda, have been engaged in clashes with the national army and have captured several key cities, forcing thousands of people to flee their homes. The UN peacekeeping force, MONUSCO, has announced a joint operation with the Congolese army to protect Goma and other towns from the advancing rebels. Additionally, the ADF militant group has carried out attacks in Ituri province, resulting in civilian casualties and displacement. The article also mentions the deployment of Southern African Development Community (SADC) peacekeeping troops in the east of the country. [Extracted from the article]
