Abstract
This article focuses on a cross-cultural examination of a classic job crafting scale across samples from Russia, Germany, and Croatia, investigating its measurement invariance using multiple statistical methods. Job crafting refers to employees’ proactive behaviors to better align their jobs with personal preferences by modifying job demands and resources. The study found that only two dimensions—“increasing challenging job demands” and “increasing structural job resources”—demonstrated cross-cultural measurement invariance, while “increasing social job resources” and “decreasing hindering job demands” did not. These findings suggest that job crafting’s core may center on proactive, growth-oriented self-development rather than social negotiation or demand reduction, highlighting the value of diverse invariance testing methods in cross-cultural psychological research.
