Abstract

The article focuses on the consumer loan subsidy program launched by China Construction Bank Corp. (CCB) to stimulate household spending in China. Since its initiation on September 1, over 810,000 customers have enrolled, benefiting from a 1% interest subsidy on personal consumer loans provided by 24 designated financial institutions. The program's effectiveness relies on banks' ability to monitor borrowers' transaction data without imposing excessive burdens, as participants must agree to this oversight. Eligible spending is tracked through merchant codes from various transaction methods, including point-of-sale and online purchases. [Extracted from the article]
