Abstract

This article focuses on General Motors' recent operational adjustments in its electric vehicle (EV) and heavy-duty truck production. The company is extending the temporary shutdown of its Detroit-based Factory ZERO, which produces the Chevrolet Silverado EV and Hummer EV, until April 13 due to softened EV market demand, resulting in layoffs of about 1,300 workers. Meanwhile, GM plans to increase production of heavy-duty trucks, including the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, at its Flint Assembly plant starting in June to meet strong demand. Additionally, GM has begun supervised public-road testing of its next-generation autonomous driving technology in California and Michigan, with over 200 test vehicles collecting data across 34 states.
