Abstract

The article focuses on India's emergence as a preferred destination for Global Capability Centers (GCCs), which have evolved from cost-saving back offices into strategic innovation hubs driving advanced technologies like AI, cloud computing, and big data analytics. Key factors contributing to India's appeal include its large STEM talent pool, supportive government policies, robust infrastructure, and a dynamic innovation ecosystem centered in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune, with growing expansion into Tier 2 and 3 cities. Examples from multinational corporations such as Amadeus and Eastman Chemical illustrate how Indian GCCs are developing AI-enabled platforms that enhance global business outcomes. Despite challenges in smaller cities, collaboration between government, industry, and academia aims to sustain growth, with projections indicating significant workforce and investment increases by 2029.
