Abstract
A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of the Saarland in Germany examined the job-related stress and job satisfaction of outplacement counsellors. Outplacement counselling is offered to employees who have been made redundant, either by their own organization or by specialized companies. The study found that internal outplacement counsellors, who are employed by the firing organizations, experience higher levels of emotional exhaustion and lower job satisfaction compared to external outplacement counsellors. These differences were attributed to increased role conflicts faced by internal counsellors. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the stress experienced by outplacement counsellors.
