Abstract

This article focuses on how executive search firms evaluate candidates for C-suite roles and outlines five key strategies for candidates to prepare effectively. It highlights the growing influence of professional recruiters and assessment specialists—such as Korn Ferry, Egon Zehnder, and Spencer Stuart—in conducting rigorous, data-driven evaluations that include psychometric tests, case studies, competency assessments, and 360-degree reviews. Candidates are advised to adopt a development mindset, craft a strategic vision memo, anticipate diverse assessments, prepare deeply for behavioral interviews, and cultivate strong references. The process aims to provide organizations with objective insights into leadership potential while offering candidates opportunities for self-reflection and career growth.
