Abstract

This article investigates the impact of demographic factors on consumer usage (CU) of digital payment methods in India during the post-demonetization period. An empirical study of 599 respondents from tier I and tier II cities analyzed the effects of gender, age, education, marital status, and income on the usage and satisfaction with four digital payment methods: debit cards, credit cards, Internet banking, and mobile banking. The findings reveal that age, education, and income significantly influence digital payment adoption, while gender and marital status do not show a significant impact. The study highlights the importance of tailoring digital payment services and marketing strategies to demographic segments, particularly focusing on younger, well-educated, and higher-income consumers, to enhance adoption and financial inclusion in India.
