Abstract

A course on negotiation and dispute resolution might also focus on specific negotiation principles and techniques from the course. This article presents an employment negotiation exercise suitable for use in numerous business courses. By using the negotiation process to figure out what resources and abilities each party brings to the table and aligning their interests, both parties are able to leave the negotiation better off through the creation of value. Many different negotiation techniques and principles can be illustrated by this exercise, but here we set out some specific negotiation issues that could be emphasized in this exercise. In integrative negotiations, more than one party can achieve their goals, and there is an opportunity to create value between the parties through the negotiation process.
