Abstract

Liam Byrne's book, "The Inequality of Wealth. Why It Matters and How to Fix It," addresses the pressing issue of wealth inequality and its impact on society. Byrne, a former Labour government figure, offers a detailed analysis of the economic and political implications of wealth concentration, advocating for a more equitable distribution of resources. His proposals include measures to expand job opportunities, redistribute wealth, and create a civic capitalism that benefits all citizens. Despite some omissions in discussing trade unions and current Labour politics, Byrne's book contributes to the ongoing dialogue on addressing economic disparities and rebuilding a more inclusive society.
