Abstract
The article discusses how leaders who alternate between abusive and ethical behaviors can have a detrimental impact on employee performance. Research involving over 650 employees in the U.S. and UK shows that this "Jekyll and Hyde" leadership style leads to uncertainty, emotional exhaustion, and reduced job performance among employees. The article suggests that leaders should strive for consistency in positive and fair leadership behaviors, while organizations should implement HR tools to address and reduce instances of abusive leadership. Employees are encouraged to address their concerns with leaders and escalate the issue if necessary for their well-being and future success. [Extracted from the article]
