Abstract
The article focuses on the rising fees associated with checking accounts and offers strategies to avoid them. According to a Bankrate survey, average ATM fees have reached a record high of $4.86, and the minimum balance required to avoid monthly maintenance fees on interest-bearing accounts has also increased to an average of $10,705. To mitigate these costs, customers are advised to use ATMs within their bank's network, consider accounts that reimburse ATM fees, and explore no-fee checking options from various banks. Additionally, the article highlights alternatives to overdraft coverage that can help manage fees effectively. [Extracted from the article]
