Abstract
This article discusses the importance of harnessing imagination to drive innovation and achieve growth in companies. It highlights that growth is critical for long-term value creation and that companies must develop innovative offerings to expand demand. However, large companies often become inwardly focused and prioritize optimization of existing products over the creation of new ones. The article presents a six-step cycle that companies can use to systematically harness imagination, including embracing anomalies, treating assumptions as choices, colliding ideas with reality, spreading ideas, creating evolvable scripts, and starting the process over again. It also emphasizes the role of technology, such as AI, in enhancing the search for anomalies and surfacing new ideas. Overall, the article suggests that systematically harnessing imagination can be a potential source of competitive advantage for companies. [Extracted from the article]
