Abstract

This article examines how economic, social, and environmental sustainability factors influence the empowerment of startup entrepreneurs ("startupreneurs") in India, focusing on non-metropolitan areas. Using survey data from 384 Indian startup entrepreneurs, the study finds that economic and environmental sustainability significantly enhance entrepreneurial empowerment, while social sustainability shows no significant impact. The research highlights the importance of integrating sustainable business practices to support startup success and innovation, contributing to socio-economic development and aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The study suggests that fostering sustainability and empowerment can help startups overcome challenges and encourages further research on mediating factors and gender inclusivity in entrepreneurial empowerment.
