Abstract
The article focuses on recent developments in telecommunications across Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey. Equinix has expanded its presence in West Africa with a new data center in Lagos to enhance cloud connectivity for Nigerian businesses. In Turkey, a strategic roaming collaboration among Viasat Aviation, Turksat, and SkyFive Arabia aims to improve in-flight connectivity (IFC) across Europe, Turkey, and the Middle East Africa (MEA) region by integrating satellite and air-to-ground networks. Additionally, Turkey's three main mobile operators—Turkcell, Turk Telekom, and Vodafone Turkey—have launched nationwide 5G services following significant spectrum acquisitions. The UAE has initiated plans to deploy the world's first commercial wireless network in the upper 6 GHz band (U6GHz), supporting future mobile networks with high-capacity and wide-area coverage.
