Abstract

PIONEERSIMPROVING SWEET TREATSNutella maker Ferrero Group is expanding its reach in North America with the acquisition of cereal manufacturer W.K. Kellogg in September for $3.1 billion. Ferrero also opened its first "innovation center" in the U.S. to refresh the catalogs of its legacy brands. Industry analysts believe Ferrero's history with strict European regulators could lead it to reshape the ingredient composition of products newly under its portfolio. Two months after the W.K. Kellogg purchase was announced, the cereal giant signed a legally binding agreement to remove artificial food colorings.—D.R. [Extracted from the article]
