Abstract
Henry Mintzberg, a renowned management thinker, discusses his shift in focus from management to broader societal issues in an interview with Roland Deiser. Mintzberg argues that society needs to be rebalanced, as capitalism did not triumph over communism but rather a balance in society was achieved. He emphasizes the importance of recognizing the plural sector, or civil society, as a key sector alongside the public and private sectors. Mintzberg calls for action and consolidation among NGOs and social movements to address major challenges such as climate change and income disparities. He also suggests the formation of a group of democratic countries, the D24, to counterbalance the power of larger nations. Mintzberg criticizes the dysfunctionality of the stock market and highlights the importance of quality over quantity in the private sector. He aims to raise awareness and engage individuals, regardless of their affiliations, in working towards societal change. [Extracted from the article]
