Abstract
This article focuses on research conducted in Shandong, People's Republic of China, examining the relationship between toxic leadership by nurse managers and the co-occurrence of anxiety and depression among nurses. The study involved 2,337 nurses from 20 tertiary hospitals and used both categorical and transdiagnostic analytical frameworks, finding that exposure to toxic leadership increased the odds of concurrent anxiety and depression symptoms nearly fivefold. The research highlights that toxic leadership is a modifiable organizational factor and recommends targeted interventions to protect nurses' mental health. The findings were peer-reviewed and published in the journal Archives of Psychiatric Nursing. [Extracted from the article]
