Abstract

The article focuses on the social networking platform Tumblr's role in the 2010s as a key online space for queer youth to explore identity, sexuality, fandom, and kink. It shows how writer Casper Byrne, referencing scholar Noah Tsika and author Joanna Russ, argues that erotic fandom and fetish cultures flourished until the 2018 adult-content ban dismantled this queer ecosystem.
