Abstract
This article focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and surface property analysis of two boron-based ceramics: hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and boron phosphate (BPO₄). Using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and inverse gas chromatography (IGC), the study determined that h-BN exhibits Lewis basic surface characteristics, while BPO₄ shows Lewis acidic behavior. The dispersive surface energies of both ceramics were quantified, with h-BN having higher values than BPO₄, and both decreasing linearly with temperature. The research demonstrates that IGC is an effective method for quantitatively assessing surface energies and acid–base parameters of ceramic materials, which is valuable for optimizing their applications in various fields.
