Abstract

A recent study published by researchers at the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases examined the risk of suicide among individuals who received cadaver-derived human growth hormone (c-hGH) through the National Hormone Pituitary Program (NHPP). The study analyzed data from 6,272 patients who received NHPP c-hGH starting from 1957 and found that the observed number of suicides among NHPP c-hGH recipients was not significantly higher than expected. However, certain subgroups, such as males aged 25-34, showed an elevated risk of suicide. The researchers concluded that further studies are needed to better understand and prevent suicide deaths among c-hGH recipients. [Extracted from the article]
