Abstract

A new bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid, (1S,1′S)‐13‐hydroxy‐6,6′,7‐trimethoxy‐2,2′‐dimethylberbaman (1) along with four known alkaloids, tetrandrine (2), fangchinoline (3), tetrahydropalmatine (4) and dehydrocrebanine (5) were isolated from the roots of Stephania tetrandra. Their chemical structure was determined by HR‐ESI‐MS and 1D‐, 2D NMR spectra and comparison with published results. The absolute configuration of compound 1 was determined by the electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectroscopy technique. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
