Abstract

The article focuses on the impact of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) on cognitive function in elderly men recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. A prospective cohort study of 85 patients at Ain Shams University hospitals found that after six months of ADT, 57.6% exhibited mild cognitive impairment, particularly in visuospatial, language, recall, and attention domains, and 27% developed depression, all of whom also showed cognitive decline. The study recommends regular cognitive and depression screening for prostate cancer patients receiving ADT, along with cognitive training to help preserve cognitive abilities.
