Abstract
The article focuses on the "Colours of Chemical Reactions" project, an interdisciplinary classroom experiment integrating art and chemistry for eighth-grade pupils in Finnish Lapland. Led by doctoral researcher Xiaowei Zhang, the project uses natural dyes and pH reactions to enable students to visualize chemical processes while reflecting on ecological sustainability through artistic creation. The study highlights how combining scientific inquiry with creative expression fosters pupils’ understanding of chemical concepts and environmental responsibility. This approach demonstrates the potential of art-based action research to enhance interdisciplinary education and promote sustainability awareness in science learning.
