Abstract

This monograph provides a historical analysis of the supply of materials for the papermaking industry in the modern period. It explores the use of linen and hemp rags for handmade paper, the shortage of suitable rags due to increased demand, and the introduction of mechanical papermaking and new materials like wood pulp and esparto grass. The book also discusses the constant experimentation and improvement of the glue used in papermaking. However, the book is criticized for its lack of detail and accuracy in explaining manufacturing processes and for inaccurately citing secondary sources. [Extracted from the article]
