Supramolecular salicylic acid combined with niacinamide in chloasma: a randomized controlled trial.

Abstract
This article reports on a multicentre, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of 30% supramolecular salicylic acid (SSA) combined with 10% niacinamide in treating chloasma, a common acquired skin hyperpigmentation condition. Enrolling 300 female participants across 15 hospitals, the study found that the treatment group showed significantly greater improvement in pigmentation severity, measured by the modified Melasma Area and Severity Index (mMASI) and Griffiths 10-point scale, compared to placebo after 16 weeks. Adverse events were minimal, with one drug-related case of desquamation and one unrelated allergic dermatitis reported in the treatment group, and none in the placebo group. The findings support the combination of 30% SSA and 10% niacinamide as an effective and safe therapeutic option for managing chloasma in adult women.
