Abstract
The article discusses a trauma-informed approach that social workers in healthcare can employ when caring for victims of domestic minor sex trafficking (DSMT). Topics covered include the effectiveness of the approach in helping professionals in identifying DMST victims, the six principles of the model developed by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration State agency (SAMHSA), and the benefits of adopting a trauma-informed lens in healthcare settings.
