Abstract
The article reports that a record 129 journalists and media workers were killed worldwide in 2025, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), marking the deadliest year since the CPJ began tracking such data over 30 years ago. The CPJ attributes two-thirds of these deaths to Israel, with over 60 percent of the 86 journalists killed by Israeli fire being Palestinians reporting from Gaza. More than three-quarters of all fatalities occurred in conflict zones. The Israeli military denies deliberately targeting journalists. [Extracted from the article]
