Abstract
Israel has raided Al Jazeera's bureau in the West Bank, claiming that the news network's offices were being used to incite terror. The Israel Defense Forces stated that an intelligence assessment determined that the channel's broadcasts endangered security and public order. Al Jazeera reported that heavily armed and masked Israeli forces raided their Ramallah bureau, confiscated equipment, and ordered the office closed for 45 days. Israel's government made the decision to close the bureau, following a similar move in May to shut down Al Jazeera's operations within Israel. Al Jazeera denounced the raid and vowed to continue reporting on the war in Gaza and the occupation of Palestinian territories. The Committee to Project Journalists expressed deep alarm at Israel's actions, stating that they severely undermine the public's right to information on the conflict. [Extracted from the article]
