Abstract
US regulators have reinstated net neutrality rules to ensure equal access to the internet, reclaiming authority over broadband service. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted 3-to-2 to adopt rules that prevent broadband providers from interfering with web traffic, reviving regulations that were removed in 2017. The regulations prohibit cable and phone providers from blocking or slowing down internet traffic, as well as granting preferential treatment to certain websites. The move has faced opposition from broadband providers and Republicans, who argue that the market is functioning well without government interference. The regulations will take effect after being formally published in the coming weeks, and a court challenge is expected. [Extracted from the article]
