Chad's ADETIC officially joins ITU.

Abstract

The article focuses on recent developments in global submarine telecommunications cable resilience, digital governance in Chad, and optical networking interoperability for AI-era data centers. It reports on the Porto Summit in Portugal, where the International Advisory Body on Submarine Cable Resilience—established by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC)—issued recommendations to enhance international cooperation, streamline cable maintenance, and support underserved regions. Additionally, Chad’s Agency for the Development of Information and Communication Technologies (ADETIC) joined the ITU as a Sector Member of its Telecommunication Development Bureau, aiming to advance the country’s digital transformation. The article also highlights the Optical Internetworking Forum’s (OIF) upcoming multi-vendor interoperability demonstration at OFC 2026, showcasing industry collaboration on energy-efficient, high-performance networking technologies critical for AI-driven data centers.
