Abstract

The article focuses on recent advancements and deployments in satellite and space-based technologies by various companies and U.S. defense agencies. SES has added two redesigned satellites to its O3b mPOWER constellation to address power module issues affecting earlier satellites, expanding the constellation to 13 satellites and supporting connectivity in developing markets. EchoStar Mobile is enhancing IoT connectivity by introducing the EM-SR LoRaWAN® Satellite Relay, which enables cost-effective satellite backhaul for terrestrial LoRaWAN sensors in hard-to-reach locations. Additionally, L3Harris completed the design review for its Tranche 2 Missile Tracking Satellites ahead of schedule, supporting the U.S. Space Development Agency's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture for missile tracking and defense. The article also highlights new optical testing equipment for military systems and ST Engineering iDirect's industry-first multi-orbit satellite tracking technology aimed at improving connectivity across different orbital regimes.
