Abstract

The article focuses on recent developments and initiatives in telecommunications standards and digital inclusion. It highlights the AI for Good Global Summit 2026, featuring discussions on AI standards, innovation competitions, technology demos, and programs supporting AI skills and creativity. The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) received the Chairman’s Award at the Global Mobile Awards for their Connectivity for Refugees initiative, which aims to provide affordable and reliable digital access to displaced populations and host communities. Additionally, NTT Data contributed to a cybersecurity service mapping framework aligned with the ITU-T X.1060 standard to help enterprises assess security measures, while SK Telecom’s AI data center interconnection architecture was approved as an ITU-T international standard, addressing the complexity of AI data center operations.
