Abstract
The article discusses a study conducted at Nanjing Normal University in the People's Republic of China, focusing on the mental health of international students and its impact on academic success. The research examines the effects of Culture Shock, Expectancy of Success, and Grit on mental health, utilizing data from 296 participants from 54 countries. Findings indicate that Expectancy of Success mediates the relationship between Culture Shock and mental health, while Grit and Expectancy of Success significantly predict mental health outcomes. The study suggests that higher education institutions should create supportive environments to enhance students' resilience and expectations of success, thereby improving their mental health during cultural transitions.
