Abstract

Intuitive Machines, a Houston-based company, recently achieved the milestone of soft-landing their unmanned spacecraft, Odysseus, on the moon. This makes them the first commercial company to accomplish this feat and the first U.S. landing since the 1970s. Founded in 2013, Intuitive Machines aims to develop a commercial economy on and around the moon, and they are working with both public and private sectors. They have secured a share of a $2.6 billion contract to propose and fly various missions, including additional moon landers and the launch of communication satellites. Their long-term goal is to land a lunar rover for NASA's Artemis astronauts. [Extracted from the article]
